RECOGNIZED BY THE EUGENE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

2026 Women Business Leader of the Year

In 2026, Melissa received the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce’s Women Business Leader of the Year award.

The recognition is a proud moment for Melissa and the Koke Printing family. It connects her work as a local business leader with the relationships, experienced people, and community commitment behind the company.

A FAMILY PRINTING STORY SINCE 1907

Four generations.
One enduring commitment.

The Koke family’s printing roots began in 1907, when Joseph Koke and Bill Yoran opened a letterpress shop in Eugene. Each generation brought new ideas and technologies to the business.

In 2019, Melissa and her siblings, Keri Ortiz and Ryan Koke, purchased the family business from their father, Doug Koke. The three share ownership and collaborate on major company decisions.

For Melissa, preserving that legacy means carrying its values forward while finding better ways to serve customers and support the team.

Discover Our Local Legacy

People first.
Progress always.

Melissa’s approach to leadership starts with the workplace itself: a place where people want to contribute, grow, and do work they can be proud of.

That commitment was tested soon after the fourth generation took ownership. During the pandemic, the company kept operating without laying off employees, according to Melissa’s 2024 industry interview. Slower periods became opportunities to update procedures and improve the business.

Today, that same focus on people connects the production floor to the customer experience.

Melissa and her siblings made sustainability and streamlined operations priorities for their generation of ownership. That long-term view connects the future of the family business with the resources it uses today.

At Koke Printing, responsibility shows up in material choices, recycling, thoughtful print planning, and care throughout production. It is part of making better decisions for customers and the company’s next chapter.
